Let's get married!!
Congratulations on your engagement!
If you're interested in a humanist wedding or civil partnership ceremony, then you've made a good start, and have landed in the right place!
I work as an authorised humanist celebrant with 'Independent Humanist Ceremonies', conducting relaxed and personal, fully legal humanist wedding and civil partnership ceremonies.
I'm based in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, and can legally marry people anywhere in Scotland.
If your ceremony is elsewhere in the UK or abroad, then I can still put together and deliver a beautiful, personal humanist ceremony, however you will also need to adhere to local wedding regulations and processes.
Have a read of some reviews here, and get in touch if you'd like a chat or check availability...
Remember... it's YOUR wedding!
There are a few elements which absolutely must be included in your ceremony to ensure it's all legal - but a humanist wedding allows you the flexibility to really have the wedding you actually want to have, as opposed to the one you think you need to have! Fill it with Harry Potter spells, get your guests involved in a sing-song, or throw in a few lines of Greek to really impress your in-laws! - it's really your call!
It can be nice to include a bit of your love story in your wedding ceremony. Whether you make it all up and pretend you met on your first day of CIA training, or admit that your eyes first met across a crowded prison exercise yard, it's up to you! We'll sift through all the gory details together, and then I'll get to work writing it into your ceremony.
There are loads of other symbolic gestures which you could include in your ceremony... a traditional handfasting, a quaich ceremony, an oath stone, a ring-warming (one for the gigglers!), amongst many others. But I'm here to help, and we can talk through loads of options - or you could even make up your own if that floats your boat!
Anyway, I'm sure you get the picture...!
Please give me a ring (get it?!) and we can arrange to chat some more.
Why choose me?
Thankfully, in Scotland, there are a few different kinds of marriage ceremony you can have - and loads of amazing people able to conduct your wedding. But of course you've got a choice to make!
It's not for everyone, but naturally my delivery style is light, relaxed and not overly formal. If you're both as comfortable and chilled as you can be, then it means you'll be able to absorb more of the lovely vibes which will be flying around, and you'll have more chance of remembering those little special moments, and the things that catch your breath!
In my view, there's nothing better than helping you plan and compose your ceremony, and then guiding you through the legal processes, before being able to share those really special moments when you get married.
Since I was about 15 I've worked in the Scottish wedding industry, so have literally been involved in thousands of weddings, winning quite a few awards along the way!
My wonderful wife Lynda and I were married on Siesta Key beach in Florida back in 2009 - and we're also lucky enough to have our two wee kids who will one day rule the world... along with Woodie the golden retriever, and 'Cuddles' the most inappropriately named cat in history.
But I think that's plenty for now! If you'd like to chat and find out more about a humanist wedding, then please get in touch...

Sit with the ones you love for an hour, and it feels like a minute.
That is relativity..."
